A4 Coupé Cabrio Concept Car

The Audi A4 Coupé Cabrio is the new concept car created by Valmet Automotive. It is based on the Audi A4 Cabriolet. Top down you can hardly see any difference to the original vehicle. Top up you see a fabulous hard top coupé.

The concept car has a fully automatic retractable roof consisting of three panels. Simple and unique technical solutions ensure short cycle time and smooth operation for the roof. When the roof is down it is stowed into an extremely compact package. All the panels are packed parallel. This unique packaging maximises the size of the luggage compartment.

The Audi A4 Coupé Cabrio is a true four-seater. The interior of the concept car is carried over from the original Audi A4 Cabriolet. The A-pillars and windscreen are also carried over from the original soft top car. The rear side windows have been lengthened to offer better rear view and to allow more light in the cabin.

This concept car project was carried out in three months in the Technical Center of Valmet Automotive. It shows the the specialty vehicle know-how of Valmet Automotive. The concept car is unique and there are no plans for series production.

Valmet Automotive has a long experience in the development and production of convertibles, their roof systems, body structures and interior solutions, and of total concepts for niche vehicles. In over 30 years the company has manufactured nearly one million vehicles including over 300,000 convertibles. Valmet Automotive offers the OEMs complete vehicle projects from product development to production. The company works in co-operation with ThyssenKrupp Automotive AG.

Today Valmet Automotive is contracted by Porsche AG to produce Porsche Boxster sports cars to the worldwide market. The facilities in Finland consist of body shop, paint shop, final assembly and a product design and development center.

Frage ist wie das dingen von hinten bzw im breitseitigen blickwinkel ausschaut... Von Schräg vorn ists ja ganz nett, bzw läßt sich nur wenig unterschied zum regulären Audi Cabrio feststellen.

Aber von vorn/schräg vorn sieht auch ein 206CC und konsorten nicht so bucklig aus...

Valmet Automotive was founded as Saab-Valmet in 1968 by the Swedish Saab-Scania AB (50%) and the Finnish Valmet Corporation (50%). In 1989, the Swedish ownership was transferred to Saab Automobile owned by Saab- Scania (50%) and General Motors (50%). Since spring 1992 the company is totally owned by Valmet Corporation. In September 1995 the company was renamed Valmet Automotive inc. Since the merger of Valmet Corporation and Rauma Corporation in July 1999 Valmet Automotive is owned by the new corporation Metso.

Since the production start in November 13, 1969 the company has produced some 980,000 passenger cars, including over 30,000 Chrysler Talbot cars in 1979-1985 and more than 90,000 Opel Calibra cars in 1991-1997.

The first Saab 900 Convertible has been one of the most succesful products in the Saab range with a production of nearly 50,000 cars in 1986-1993. It was single sourced by Valmet Automotive, and the company was responsible for its continued development. The production ended in fall 1993 to make room for the new generation of Saab 900 Convertible starting in spring 1994.

The production of the new Saab 9-3 Convertible started in 1998 and the production of Saab 9-3 Viggen in 1999 followed by Saab 5-door version for Nordic markets in 2002. Saab production terminated in April 2003.

The production of the Porsche Boxster roadsters started in September 1997. According to the long-standing agreement made at the end of the year 2001, Valmet Automotive started the production of the new Porsche Boxster in the autumn 2004.

es wäre bestimmt nicht schlecht, wenn man die wahl hätte zwischen stoff oder blech. bestimmt ist es dann für laternenparker eine gute lösung!

kofferraum hat mich beim cabrio nie interessiert.
sollte man sein cabrio als erst oder hauptfahrzeug benutzen könnte das schon eher interessant sein.
aber auch bei meinem alltagsfahrzeug nutze ich den kofferraum selten aus. ümzüge kommen bei mir auch nicht alle tage vor.

bei mir is mein Cabrio "Nutzfahrzeug" und ich hab ihn u.a. wegen des grossen Kofferaums geholt!

wenn ich umziehen will, dann nehme ich einen transporter!
ansonsten reichen mir selbst die kofferräume im 986
